Session Description: This will be a highly practical session on publishing in stroke journals. The first two talks will cover guidance for the delegate on how to increase their chances of success by optimal preparation of a paper before submission, and to explain how the journal processes work and what can be done to increase the chance of acceptance. This will be followed by a session on how to review a paper, including opportunities available for reviewer training, such as the early career support provided by Stroke journal. It will finish with a talk on the many changes and challenges that are occurring in publishing, and a gaze into the future as to what the format of publishing will look like in 10 years time.

Session Description: This session aims to discuss and debate current topics of importance to stroke in a lively and stimulating forum.

FORMAT:
Your session will be in a TV studio format. This means that the presentations will be pre-recorded and streamed during the scheduled session slot (2nd September @15:45 – 17:15 CEST).
1. The session will start with live welcome by the convenors. They will need to present the first debate question ‘The computer says ’’No’’. This house believes that all hospitals should use automated software on all patients with suspected stroke in order to guide treatment.’ and encourage the audience to vote YES or NO via a Slido link which will be posted in the chat field for attendees to see.
2. After that the first two speakers will present their talks – George Harston (FOR) and David Liebeskind (AGAINST).
3. The session will continue with Live Q&A, moderated by the convenors. They should prepare own questions which to trigger a debate, but also select a few questions from the posted ones in the chat field. Attendees will be able to upvote questions they want to see answered. Convenors will have access to the chat field and be able to monitor the received questions while the pre-recorded presentations are streamed on the screen.
4. At the end of the 1st round, the convenors will introduce revoting of the same question. This is to estimate how the audience’s opinion has changed after the two talks and the discussion.
5. The same process will repeat for the other debate question.
